Chlorine levels getting better, but it took a week recover it a bit and get rid of algae.

I assume this means you passed all 3 end ofSLAM Process criteria?
Now, no more algeacide! & follow the FC/CYA Levels
Your cya needs to be in the 60-80 range or your swg won’t be able to maintain proper fc levels - the sun
will consume it.
I hope you were able to get a recommended test kit so you can Follow the Recommended Levels
& test daily to prevent future issues.

My CYA levels are extremely low, despite I keep adding liquid chlorine...

Without at least 30 ppm cya you are spinning your wheels & sacrificing alot of chlorine to the sun. After slam is complete you would then increase cya to the 60-80 range & chlorinate appropriately FC/CYA Levels
SLAM Process involves testing fc & replenishing to slam level for your cya multiple times per day until u pass all 3 end of slam criteria.
It’s almost impossible To do so without a test kit that reads over 10ppm fc in your possession. Every hour you are below slam level for your cya algea wins.
Looking clear is only one of the criteria- the point is to do the slam fully & completely & then maintain proper levels so u never need to do it again. If you just “shock” until clear & don’t follow through with completely eradicating algea it will lie in wait for the next little hiccup that allows fc to skirt minimum & you will need to start all over again. This is how people end up on the cloudy water/algae roller coaster - its not a fun ride.
