Smart Things Integration.

Thanks again Yev... So the lights im getting are Full RGB, color changing, light shows etc... Im just uncertain if I can put a smart switch in and suddenly have control over that color. I doubt it. So I need either a smart bulb in the pool itself, or some mechanism of switching that up top. Just not sure what that is yet :)

So you can get this

IntelliBrite Controller - Pool and Spa Lighting - Pentair

The upside is it would do everything that you want, and work with the Pentair automation that you will haev to contrll the rest of your pool features. The downside is that it woudl not be linked to your ST system, and would be on its own.

Not sure if I should put this part here or in your build thread. But you mentioned that you knew some people with pools. Make sure that you ask them about their pools. What features do they like, what dont they like, what they would have done differently, etc. Ask them about their lights, do they use them, do they change colors, do they wish they had more lights, etc. What you experience as a guest at someone else's pool might not reflect their thought son their own pool.

Dunginhawk - if you're still interested, here's a better description of my set up. Hope this link works...
PoolControlSystem.pdf - Google Drive

The relays provide some interlocks for the valve actuators and heater to make sure they stay in the correct mode. I used an 8 channel optocoupled relay module that's actually designed for use with Arduino, but the are great manual relay packages. They're all over Amazon.

The Amazon Alexa skill for the Hayward Omnilogic SUCKS!!!! You have to get the request worded EXACTLY with the right tone of voice or it ignores you or errors out. Our other folks having the same problem? Also, what do you think we could do to get Hayward to integrate IFTTT and Google Home in addition to the crappy Alexa skill? I really wish they would open up their API so develoopers can come up with some cool stuff to do with their system. This would REALLY put them ahead of the game in regards to their competition.
