Hello all! Our new pool came with three Hayward LED lights. They are connected to a switch that we manually flip to change the colors. I’d love to be able to do that from my phone. Is there a certain “smart switch” you recommend that would allow me to turn the lights on and off and change the colors from my phone? I appreciate your help! Thank you!😊

I like this one:

D215S Decora Smart Switch, Wi-Fi 2nd Gen

Controllable from anywhere through an app on your phone, and also works with Alexa, Siri, Google, HA, etc. No hub required, connects directly to Wi-Fi (but needs a neutral wire; if your house wiring doesn't include a neutral, Leviton has a line of switches that work with a hub).

Thank you for the recommendation. We do have a neutral wire. I’ll check this one out!

I have similiar lights and the switch needs to be cycled quickly to change the colors.

Will you be able to do that with the WiFi switch?
That’s exactly what I’m wondering. I have ordered the switch recommended by Drew, so once we get it installed I will report back on this thread and let you know!

To the OP, just so you know, Inyo Pools sells those lights for about $75 each. Amazon sells the same lights for a little cheaper. It’s just the LED bulb that goes in the waterproof pool light housing, in place of the old halogen lightbulb. I installed them myself.

I can’t imagine what Hayward is selling them for.

Hello, Mikes61! I am ready to report back. So we did order this light from Amazon, D215S Decora Smart Switch, Wi-Fi 2nd Gen. It DOES need a neutral wire. It was easy to connect, and it works! From the Leviton app on my phone, I can power the lights off and on. Just like with the original switch, I can power them off and on to change colors, and it will either cycle through the colors slowly, or they will flash. So far I haven't figured out how to make it just stay on one color, but I don't mind the slow color changes. The one Hayward makes would probably let you do more, but this works great for what we wanted and it was only $35. We also haven't tried yet to work it remotely, but I don't see why that won't work too, just for fun. Thank you, DrewLG! :)
