A gallon is .134 cu ft
A yard of sand (27 cu ft) is 2900 lbs (average)
A gallon of sand weighs 14.39 lbs
A gallon of water weighs 8.34 lbs
So you have the weight of 1.72 gallons of water per jug(plus the water you added)

Google only knows so much. The type of sand used and it's moisture content could put the weight all over the map. And I screwed up with full gallons to your half gallons, so my ammended 7.2 is pretty close to.your 6.6, for guessing through the internet anyways..they are 6.6 pounds each, which is "pretty close to the weight of a gallon of water"...haha
