I was a little impatient today to start the pump and get the water flowing so I could add salt. But every time I plugged it in it would suck the water right out of the basket...I asked myself why...the water level was a little bit above the skimmer hole, but apparently that's not high enough. I left it to continue to fill until the water level was where it should be, right around the middle screws on the skimmer. I turned the pump back on and all is good now!
Yeah I learned REAL fast too! The water does need to be around the middle screw for the pump/filter to be happy!
I decided to change the platform a little bit, this is what it looked like before…

I finished the gate the other day…
I also finished the inside stairs today after work, but I didn’t take any pics
. I modified the original ladder weight and mounted it to the inside of the bottom step with zip ties...I also “mounted” some Home Depot shower pan liner to the bottom of the steps. I’m going to have to take some under water pics.

Hello pool people!…I hope you all enjoyed your pools this summer! It was super hot and dry in Rhode Island this summer, so we definitely enjoyed the pool. The new Intex swg worked like a champ!
Fast forward to last week when I finally had time to close…I’ve never been a fan of using the cable to hold the cover on, especially since I couldn’t find the ratchet that came with it.
The Arizona Tea jugs that I was using for the past couple years turned brittle and were not usable this year. Seeing that I couldn’t drink that much tea (I switched to Pure Leaf anyway, no handle on the bottle) to have enough jugs to use lol…I ordered some half gallon jugs from U.S. Plastic…

I bought a couple bags of play sand from Home Depot and made some weights…

And I forgot to mention in my other post that I put about 10 seconds of water out of the hose in the bottom before I funneled the sand in…just to add a little more weight.
If I had to guess, it’s pretty close to the weight of a gallon of water.

A gallon is .134 cu ft
A yard of sand (27 cu ft) is 2900 lbs (average)
A gallon of sand weighs 14.39 lbs
A gallon of water weighs 8.34 lbs
So you have the weight of 1.72 gallons of water per jug
(plus the water you added)And WELL done !!!

But you made me get up off the couch and go down to the basement to see how much they actually weigh. I have 3 that I didn't use...they are 6.6 pounds each, which is "pretty close to the weight of a gallon of water"...haha
Thanks Kim! Yes it does, and it pulls on a little wider area than just the one hole.
Google only knows so much. The type of sand used and it's moisture content could put the weight all over the map. And I screwed up with full gallons to your half gallons, so my ammended 7.2 is pretty close to.your 6.6, for guessing through the internet anyways.
Still WELL done, tho.
