Slight Depression Spotted Near Upright

Hey there TFP crew,

I am needing some advice on how to manage this situation. I've spotted an indentation in the pool liner near the upright. It's about the size of my palm at this time.

I am also noticing another small indentation on the upright adjacent to this one.

Looking for advice on how to ensure safety of the pool liner and if this needs to be addressed asap.

is there a leak at the seam or in the indented area? any sign of leaking (lower than expected water level) or water/mud on the ground outside of that area? I am presuming this is a new indentation and not a brand new install, right? could it be rodents or something burrowing?

When I built my ungrounded liner pool, I found buried trash as I excavated.

I pulled up the trash, concrete bags and other junk. I used a compactor to carefully tamp down the dirt, as I added it.

Everything was fine for about four years. When summer came, I found an indention that was about 4" deep in that location! It spans larger than yours.

It took 4 years to appear! 2 years later it's the same. My liner stretched to fit it with no problem.

Maybe there was more trash under there or maybe my new dirt settled some.

Could your ground have simply settled? I will add more vermiculite when I replace my liner again

I have perfect, half a baseball dents everywhere they had a rebar stake for the string when leveling the sand floor.

I looked at them and wondered with my first pool for 8.5 years and the moment they staked the new pool it clicked. I asked them to pack the holes well when they pulled the stakes and was met with the typical 'of course we do'. A couple months later my new pool had the same divots.

With divots directly across from each other, i bet they banjo'd a string between the two.

There is no leak that I can see. No water/mud. No signs of animals burrowing... This is an oval pool with a deck around it. This is the side that the deck is on... so I have to go under the deck to access the area > I built up this side with a good bit of material to try and force rain water around the pool that was coming down from the house. There was no sign of indentation when the pool was installed/used last summer. These indentations have developed this year... presumably due to some settling around the uprights. All material was plate tamped multiple times / passes prior to install of the liner.

Thanks for the reply and the note on your experience! I believe settling is the most likely cause - just tough to believe as the material that was installed was plate tamped multiple times/passes but I guess it's always possible.

Sounds like there is less to worry about if your liner had held up for more than 8 years under those similar circumstances! Frustrating a brand new pool has the same divots after your request to the construction crew wasn't fulfilled.
