Slamming this am, have questions

SLAM Process
Looking at the picture I can make out the screw head in the drain. Pass oclt tonight and I think you’re there.

I could make out the screw head from the beginning, but it’s so much clearer now. There is a difference.

So here’s the next wrinkle. I did my last test at seven and added bleach. I was going to check it in 30 minutes for the evening OCLT number, but the skies have opened up and we are getting a heavy deluge of rain, again, only it looks like it’s not stopping until 11. Do I take that number when the rain clears to check against the morning one?
That’s probably a rhetorical question.

Good grief! The pool level rose so fast the overflow was barely keeping up. I thought we were going to be testing out the perimeter drain channels around the house. Wow! The rain has slowed a bit and the overflow is catching up. We got > two+ inches, in under an hour. Good thing we have sandy soil.

Edit: there was a lull, I got soaked but there was no thunder/lightening and I got a water sample. The FC is 27, it should have been 28. And the rain is picking up again. I’m not sure how accurate this OCLT is going to be. The other problem is I’m running low on reagent with a refill coming on Monday. I’ve switched to a 5 ml sample with a value of one for the drops. I did that for the last two samples. Counting 40-50 drops to get to an FC to 28 took the reagent down fast.

I’ll check the FC in the morning, but I think I’m done with a flooding/overflowing pool and low reagent for this SLAM. There is so much standing water, even in our front yard, nothing is keeping up. I can’t imagine that this much rain is not affecting the FC at this point and will throw off the results by morning.

OCLT
FC 27 last evening
FC 21 this morning
CC 0.0

I used the 5ml to test on the last four readings. My last daytime reading was 26.5 which likely reflected some loss from sun. So close!

I’m am stopping the SLAM. I think my results would have been within 1ppm if we weren’t deluged with rain after the last test. Our pool water went up to the top of the coping and stayed there for over two hours last night. Water was pouring out the overflow the entire time. We were preparing to crack the lid open on the pump to help get the level down when the rain finally slowed down.

I’ll keep an eye on my chlorine level. More hot sun today with afternoon thunderstorms. So my PH will be off with the high FC, but does it affect CYA readings? I’d like to see what it is currently after last nights rain. We had a lot of water exchange.

CYA test will be accurate. Be sure the pool is well mixed after getting your rain last night.

Do a OCLT the next night you are not getting any rain. But sounds like you should be fine.

Take care
