Slamming pool

In the Slam pool section it states.

• Brush and vacuum the entire pool once a day. I have a green pool. Do I vacuum to waste or thru the sand filter?

You can do either. I used a sand filter AND my Dolphin. First two days, I got lots of algae in my dolphin, like a big ball.

Your Filter will work fine. Just note your clean pressure. When your pressure goes up 25%, backwash.

Good to go!

If you are able to remove large amounts of clumped up algae, vac to waste. Just understand that you are removing water and adding fill water. That may effect your water chemistry, such as pH and it will effect CYA.

If it's your initial shot at it....I'd go straight to waste to avoid QUICKLY clogging the filter.

Ok, starting Slamming Sunday night. Still losing FC. Is it possible that the water test I had at Leslie's had the CYA wrong? It showed 33.

Yep. Did you order your test kit? Test Kits Compared If not, I'd order one now. Pool store results are often inaccurate and unreliable. You should get your own kit.

I have my own test kit. Didn't trust the results as my water is green. Also, if I add DE to my sand filter, does it pump out with every backwash?

Green water does not effect your CYA testing. Do your own testing.

DE is pumped out of the filter with each backwash. Unless the water has been cloudy blue for several days, it is too early to use DE in your sand filter.
