Slamming - double checking myself

Hadn’t had to slam in a lonnnng time. I read the slam instructions.
1. Lowered pH
2. Got all debris out (there wasn’t that much)
3. Cya 70
4. Turned off SWG
5. Got pumps running 24/7
Maintaining FC shock level

All good? here’s the thing. The water is/was crystal clear to begin with. I see NO algae., Period. It was was all over our lights. We have taken the lights out of the water and plan on soaking them in bleach. The bubblers and umbrella hole are empty. Bubblers will be soaked along with the lights. We will bleach the lights today for 20 min per internet suggestion.
the FC dropped 4 PPM. 4. With crystal clear water. Anything we are missing here?I can’t even imagine what is eating the FC....

I have been doing that. I am just surprised that my FC dropped so much overnight with crystal clear water. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. It’s been a long time since I slammed

We just went through this with someone else. Not all the water in the system is visible in the pool. When's the last time the filter was cleaned?

The filter is Brand New. Replaced Saturday the 6th of June

At noon it was 35ppm. When hubby got home it was 18 at 4:45 p. Then at 6:15, it was 25. I cannot believe we are going through this much bleach with a perfectly clear pool. Blowing my mind

Weir door is the flap inside the skimmer that prevents water from leaving the skimmer when the pump switches off.

We are out of R-0870 powder! we can't find any locally. leslie's doesn;t have it and Walmart doesn't have it. I don't know where to get it!

The husband is asking me how much bleach are we going to go through...and I am weakening..that powder algae stuff he bought is looking really good....we turned on the wall and the bubblers and dropped 10 PPM....sigh...KMN. He wants to know why we can’t use the powder....

What is powder algae stuff?

Nope, stay the course for SLAM Process! You will be so much happier at the end!!

Because if your CYA or CH get too high you have to replace the water.

I suspect the powder algae stuff is cal hypo followed by floc. Just say no.

I feel your pain, mine was at 32, then 25 and now 20? In one day???? What the heck is happening? All with the TPF-100 kit. We put in over 900 oz of bleach last night.

Also--places here are limiting bleach. There's no way I can go from store to store buying 1-2 things of bleach when I'm gonna need like 900 more ounces.

Are they limiting liquid chlorine purchases? I might be able to help you find some, but you don't have a location shown.

Look at big box stores for Liquid Pool Shock (it's either 10% or 12.5% sodium hypochlorite)
