I slamned our pool, and changed filter sand went with a red sand from oklahoma, it came in 20 lb bags and 120 lbs of it is equivalent of 300 lbs of the white sand, also had bbs or fish weighys on bottom bu drain, once i could see with goggles on it was easier to get out the foreign debries. Filter had what appeared to be 2 inches of cotton on the top, and lots of green algie looking material in it as well. Slammed it for 2 weeks keeping the cfc up and got the majority cleared up. Still cant see the bottom but im going to slam it this week and i am sure it will clear up fast! On my second test kit, lol

Slammed pool for 2 weeks, just changed filter sand, went with a red sand from oklahoma, 120 lbs is equilivent to 300 lbs of the white sand. Sand had 2 in of cotton on top and was grey with a green tint. Was able to dive in with goggles and see bottom so cleared all foreign debries out of pool! Found a few metal objects which were causing the iron to be high. Bb like things could have been small fish weights etc. Anyways it's much better and I expect it to be crystal clear withing 3 days. I'll post before and after pucs

Last 3 pics are of sand and filtration pressure now,was jumping to 30 fast and I was back washing once a day, I haven't had to backwash now for 2 days

Great job so far, but it doesn't look like you are done with your SLAM quite yet. Your water is a nice shade of blue, but it is still cloudy and not yet clear.

I recommend continuing your SLAM until your water is crystal clear, you should be able to read heads or tails of a coin tossed in the deep end!

As a side note, it is safe to swim if you can see the bottom of the deep end and your chlorine is at or below SLAM level (and above minimum) for your CYA.

Your pool is looking so much better! As noted above though, don't stop SLAM yet. I have a feeling you're very close!

I'm curious about this red sand. Is it pool filter sand (#20 silica sand)? I can't find anything about it online.

Today I'm able to actually see the bottom in the deep end, this is a very big deal, lol it's just barely visible but you can make out the dirt at the bottom of the slopes. One pic is of the corner of the deep end so you can see the v and dirt gathered the 2nd puc is by diving board! Its definitely getting better!

Slammed pool, was a 3 week process as the pool has set for 2 seasons, we closed on the 25 of july, replaced sand in filter last week, and continued to slam, had a trip to kc 3 and a half hrs away this weekend, just got back and can see bottom, going to vaccuum it out and go swimming!!!
