Slam question

Just started the slam process. I entered my numbers into pool math and added the required chlorine. The process has begun.

Pool water is clear, and fc/cc are both 0 due to draining a bunch of water to lower cya.

Salt is low, but waiting to add that until after the slam.

How long after adding the initial dose of chlorine should I wait to check FC and CC? Pump is running about 2500 rpm, I think (the speed I use to circulate water to the solar heater).

I added the chlorine in the shallow end, in front of a return jet. I assume i should test it in the deep end?

Ph is slightly low (7). I forgot to add some baking soda before the test. Should I do this now? Or worry about it after slam? I thought that low ph is better than high ph for slam, but honestly don't know why or if I misread that.

TIA!

2 hours if fine to wait between doses. Don't do any more often.
Buffer system is fast with FC, meaning doesn't matter where you test. Just use the same place everytime.
Don't add baking soda. That raises TA.
Yes, low pH is better.

For grins, go the the SLAM page. Under "Before you begin" there is a link in the first bullet to a single page SLAM Checklist. Print it out and use it. It is new, and we'd like to get some feedback. Let us know if it helps...Link-->SLAM Process
