So…when slamming, it’s a waste to add more chlorine than target SLAM amount, but you shouldn’t let the amount of FC fall below the target amount.
I’m losing 1ppm of chlorine per hour and it’s almost time for bed. How am I supposed to keep the chlorine at the target level all night if I don’t add an amount that I would lose between the time I go to bed and the time I wake up? If I plan on going to bed at midnight, should I add an extra 6ppm before I go to bed if I plan on getting up at 6AM?
Also, my pool is crystal clear and it’s hard for me to believe that I’m having such a major chlorine loss issue. Is this common? We opened the pool yesterday and it was slightly cloudy when the cover was removed with 3 spots that were less than a foot square with green algae on the wall. I brushed away the algae and put in a few gallons of chlorine, but the pool is blowing through 1ppm each hour. I’ve been getting CC readings between .5 and 1. My chlorine went from 4 to 0 overnight, so it wasn’t until this morning that I realized I had a problem. The cloudiness cleared up overnight.
