Slam or No?

Trying to determine if a slam is needed. Complete refill on the pool water (well water with an ecoone filter on the hose) after replastering. Spouse says we should slam, I think no.

FC: 1
pH: 7.5
CYA: 0
CC: 0
CH: 175
TA: 200

Definitely need to increase the chlorine & CYA, but is an actual slam necessary if water is less than a week old?

Thx.

M,

I see no reason to SLAM, but I would use liquid Chlorine and get the FC up to 5 ppm and the CYA up to 30 or so..

I would then do an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test or OCLT.. I'd only do a SLAM if you fail the OCLT..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Once CYA and FC are up, as you stated, you can perform an OCLT and see if anything is eating your FC in the new water just to be sure. My guess is probably not, but the OCLT will let you know if anything is growing in your new water.
