I am 4 days into the SLAM process and am seeing no real improvement. Pool is still a green swamp. Before starting the SLAM, I tested everything and adjusted the pH to 7.2, CYA was at 50 and started the SLAM with a FC of 20. The sand filter is reading 0 psi but this has happened before due to the winter freeze. I plan to get a new pressure guage this weekend. I have been brushing and vacuuming but still can only see about 3 feet down. I thought the sand filter may be channeling so I removed the multiport and used a running hose to flush/agitate the sand. This was yesterday and still no improvement.

When I backwash I am getting green water discharge for about 45-60 seconds then it clears. I rinse and return to filter.

At this point, I'm at a loss.

How often are you adding back to target FC ?

The more you maintain the FC at or near slam, the quicker it goes, especially at first.

Go to 2 hours whenever you are home. The weekend should help. You can dose early to buy the next block of time away. Its great for squeezing errands or a kids soccer game in. Usually by day 2 of hitting it often, the 2 hour drop holds 4+ hours and by Monday its holding 8+ hours and you can easily squeeze work in. (Or mostly in)

4 days isnt that long, especially with a sand filter and a green swamp.
+1 on testing and re-adding FC as much as you can.

Just a couple of questions:
- How are you adding FC? Liquid chlorine or something else?
- When did you last test your CYA? I would recommend re-testing that and make sure you have the right SLAM FC target.

Keep at it and hopefully your green swamp turns to a blue cloudy swamp soon. Then you just need to keep at it as the blue cloudy pool slowly becomes more and more clear.
