Slam kill and prevent algae

Hi - I am new to TFP. I recently noticed a bit of algae on our vinyl liner in a few areas in our pool. In reading the slam procedure, chlorine levels need to be 40% of CYA. Ours is at 30ppm, so the calculation would have me raise our chlorine level to 12.

My Taylor kit only goes up to 10ppm. How the heck can I check levels above 10ppm?
