SLAM... Can't get my chlorine levels up

Maybe give Hasa a call and ask when that lot number was bottled.
If I had to make a WAG, they were bottled at plant "B" on the 165 day of 2024 - June 14, 2024. But that's just a guess.

Do any pool stores by you have the Hasa chlorine in the plastic container with the 4 one gallon jugs?
In our area, those are bottled in Eloy and usually delivered to the high volume retail stores at least twice weekly this time of year. You won't find any date codes or lot numbers on these refillable jugs.

Maybe you have the same problem I have. Two days ago my local pool store recommended I use Yellow Stop shock to get rid of algae quick. It did but now apparently my pool will never be able to hold chlorine levels as the Yellow Stop algaecide's active ingredient is Sodium Bromide which, to my surprise, is impossible to get rid off and it turns chlorine into Hypobromous acid and you will never ever register any chlorine in your pool.
Basically, if at any point in time anyone used sodium bromide in that pool, it needs to be drained (from what I've learned here on TFP and online).
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Is it In-Ground pool? I have an in-ground pool about 20,000 gallons and I might start dumping some of the water out today but not all. We get a lot of rain here in Houston so I might dump some but not all, then refill some and let rain fill up some by diverting my gutters to the pool and building a tarp funnel of some sort lol.
My stabilizer level is 130+ and my chlorine is 0. Everything is right.
I am so new to this as well and trying to learn what to do.

That severely high CYA is why they advised you to do the sodium bromide.. Horrible advice but thats what they do. Best bet would be to make that your last trip there for advice

I totally agree. I realized after this happened that if they sucker you into adding sodium bromide to your chlorine pool that means a whole lot of trips to their store to try and get it to balance. In one week I've purchased 20 gallons of liquid chlorine shock and about $50 worth of chlorine tablets and poured a bunch more other stuff to try to get it right and it always reads 0 chlorine and the stabilizer levels are high. I am SOOOO angry! This should be outlawed honestly.
They even have a video on YouTube of them suggesting this exact process!!!! Let me link it below. I HATE POOL STORES FROM THIS DAY FORWARD:mad:

I did use an algaecide maybe 3 months ago, but it didn't have sodium bromide in it... But, maybe I'll just pump the water out and refill it... Start over.
Not a good idea to drain/refill this time of year in AZ.
Consider the no drain water exchange instead. You will use more water but will protectthe pool surface.

Is there any formula to know how much to drain to bring the CYA levels down? For example, If you have 130 stabilizer reading and drain half the water and refill with fresh will you have a 65 reading?

Yes - it's a straight percentage.

Ok so in your opinion what would be a reasonable level to drain it to? when I get a 70 CYA reading? I heard above 80 is high... and if so then a 70 is borderline and would still keep me from using chlorine tabs for example. Is that accurate?
We would just really advise the use of liquid chlorine in almost every instance. The only time I use tablets is if I am going to be on vacation. I will take my pool up to slam level the night before I leave and float a floater full of tablets and be fine for the week. That's the ONLY time I will ever let a tablet near my pool. Liquid is cheaper too
