SLAM and Very High pH/TA

I am preparing SLAM the pool once water level is correct, debris removed, Skimmer face plates replaced, etc.
The pool took a bunch of well water this year.
The well water is:
pH >8.2
TA > 400ppm
CH ~ 20ppm
My plan is to clean pool, raise CYA to ~40ppm for the SLAM.
Problem is I KNOW pH and TA are off the chart because of the amount of well water. (I have not tested yet and reasonable to believe the pool levels are close to the well water)
I can reduce pH to the SLAM recommended 7.2-7.5 with muriatic acid. However, with the very high TA, the pH will quickly bounce back to >8.2ish.

Should I reduce the TA to the TFP recommended 60-90 ppm BEFORE SLAM and therefore have a more reasonable and stable pH? or
Is it possible to SLAM while struggling with TA & pH knowing that the pH is unreliable during SLAM?

I reviewed the forum and could not find a clear answer.

Will post pool chem levels later today it I get around to taking them.

Thanks,
Steve

Check and adjust the PH to between 7.2 and 7.5.
SLAMing an outdoor pool is most effective when CYA is around 30 to 40. Below 30 you lose too much chlorine to sunlight.
