We are on day three of SLAM and I am so thankful. We’ve been following pool store protocol and could never get ahead of the algae. This season, the kids kept noting how cloudy the water was so I turned to TFP. The cloudiness was gone on day one of SLAM. What the pool store called pollen, I learned was mustard algae. Once things were clear we also noted black algae dots. We are continuing SLAM until the black algae dissipates (lots of scrubbing to get that extra layer off and expose to chlorine). However this morning, I woke up to these new spots. Is this normal? About to head in to scrub and expose these.

Current levels prior to adding more chlorine to SLAM this morning: CYA 55, 9.4 FC (loss of 0.8 overnight)

Photos of spots attached.

Welcome to TFP! Glad to hear things are improving now that you are in control of the pool. :goodjob: As for the spots, try rubbing them with a standard Vitamin C tablet to see if they are iron. Perhaps something with iron fell into the pool. This looks like a plaster pool, so there is also the possibility it's something bleeding through from under the plaster, but we can evaluate further. For now, try to focus on the SLAM Process and we'll fine tune everything else as you continue. Enjoy the forum! :swim:

SLAM is over but the stains are still there. Tried rubbing with a Vit C tablet...no luck. Is this a vigorous, many tablet effort? Thanks for any help!
