Skimmer weir tab is broken

The little tab on the skimmer box that prevents the skimmer weir from opening into the pool is broken so the weir can swing both ways, into the pool and skimmer.

Its a tough spot to get to and I'm looking for suggestions on how to fix it, I was thinking of gluing a piece to prevent the swing (if possible, i didnt want to screw anything).

I wasnt sure if anyone else had this happen and what you did to fix this. Thanks!

Its not the door, its the skimmer box itself. There is a tab on one that's still in place. The other one you can see the spot where the tab is broken.

I'll try to take a picture for reference.

Do you have the tab that broke off?
You may be able to reattach the tab and build up the side facing into the pool with pool putty or a ppol comparible epoxy.

I don't have the broken tab, I didn't realize it was broken until I was replacing the weir.

I had a different weir door issue, where i couldn't get the old one out because it was cemented in place. I was able to use one of these to make it work (that particular one is not available at Amazon, but I'm sure there are similar options). I'm not sure it will help with your issue, but it just snaps into place and works.

Sorry should have read it better. I would lower the water for a day and build it up with an epoxy. They set up real fast.

This is probably bad advice but if you wanted to rig it, you could just put a couple screws partially into the frame to act as a stopper. Do not screw them in too far otherwise you will cause more damage.
Alternatively you could use some 3m double sided tape and a hook - something like this: Amazon.com

I was thinking of something similar, I have some CA glue that I was going to use and use a piece of plastic. I'll try it out on a nice warm day.

I used a command hook as a temporary fix, then used JB epoxy stick to secure this ( Waterway Pool Skimmer Gunite Weir Door Stop #519-6320 Amazon.com ) to top of opening Where the original stop had broken off.
