Do you guys use skimmer socks? Are they recommended? Do they actually prolong the life of your filter? It seems like they’d work but I’ve only just discovered these and haven’t bought any yet. Thought I’d ask here first. Thanks.

I use them in the summer time when the pool gets lots of use and there are little to no leaves. It’s amazing how much hair, pollen, dust gets caught in them.

Once fall hits I take out the socks and get the skimmers ready to catch leaves.

I’ve seen a lot of folks recommend these. Most recently @PoolStored.
I’ve ordered some due to this. :)

Make a huge difference especially in spring and fall. Many here use hairnets instead of skimmer socks - it’s really a personal preference.

Your basket may float though so put a large rock inside the basket

You can even vacuum to skimmer plate with one on

TS,

Just to be clear, you get 100 for about $10 bucks.

I use them all year long.

I actually have two sets of skimmer baskets.. This means all I have to do is remove the basket with the dirty hairnet, and then quickly replace it with a basket with a clean hair net. Then I remove and toss the dirty hairnets, make sure the basket are clean, and then install the new hairnets so they are ready to use the next time.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I buy a 52 pack of socks and replace as needed every 1-3 weeks depending on time of year. I have a rock at the bottom of the skimmers to make it sink and use the skimmy sock lock to keep the sock in place.

I dont wash the socks i just pull them out and replace. Takes less than 2 minutes a piece and i don't have to touch the nasties caught in the skimmer. Very worth the cost.
