Skimmer socks while away?

Hi everyone,

Skimmer socks have changed my life. They make me need to backwash less often and they help me trap all the fine debris.

However, I am about to leave for 3 days and i clean my sock every day because it gets very dirty (full of bugs, etc) would you guys recommend to avoid using a sock if the pool will be unattended for a few days?

I am afraid the skimmer will get clogged and struggle to filter.

I would not leave a skimmer sock in place for 3 days if you routinely empty it daily.

Have you ever tried hairnets? They have a looser weave than skimmer socks, so will let through more small particles but are less likely to fill depending on your debris load. If you have time, try them & see how they work for you.

Use disposable hairnets. Saves a lot of time.

Thanks guys, I didn’t have the time to try any of your methods. My fastest solution was to just don’t leave anything on the skimmer for now.

I will try the hair nets and the DY options when I come back home.
