Hi All,
Does anyone have experience stopping a slow leak from a screw in the skimmer mount? One is stripped and does not tighten to the pool wall at the faceplate below the water line and we have a very slow drip coming from that side of the skimmer mount.
Thanks,
mariane

Finally able to take pics but unable to load them (sorry can't figure out why) Anyway.
One shows the water dripping from below the skimmer opening. Next pic shows the skimmer faceplate where the screw will not tighten up into the skimmer housing. On line people have used plastic epoxy to make new threads for the hole where the screw mounts in the skimmer housing and husband thinks wall anchor might tighten the hole. Those posts were 7 or more years old. Does the fix hold or even work long term?
Thanks, hope that helps.

Well hubby decided to replace the skimmer body instead of trying to fix the stripped threads.
Thanks anyway for looking. Maybe if anyone has answers to this post it will help someone else.

Especially since we realized that was where it has been leaking for years and didn't know it. Found the wall rusted around the opening and probably because of that one spot. Also the old gaskets were not "u" gaskets and we could see the rusted edge of the metal wall sticking up in the skimmer opening. All the screws below the water line had rust on them and some rust on the skimmer face plate.
Hopefully this is the last thing that will go wrong as we put this pool back in service. Boy do I have stories. :brickwall::rant:

You are too funny.
Roasting s'mores is the way to go with a bonfire. :D

In a nutshell: we decided to fix the rust and knowing the liner would need to be replaced, we decided to start when we returned from vacation the beginning of June.
Many steps of the way have been met with: "oh you don't carry the part/item", guess we have to order it. Stopped work several times to order the item and wait for it to arrive. Now its July 26 and still waiting for the next set of parts before we can say we are finished.

Replacement Parts list:
liner, floor foam, Jandy valve O rings, pump O rings, heater manifolds, O rings, switch, electrical connection, skimmer housing, stabilizer rails, plastic coping, vertical upright topplates, ss screws, rust inhibitor, sheet metal, ss bolts, U gaskets, water, water, and more water. :shark:

The next thing went bad - pump kept tripping the gfi and we were finding water on the platform under the pump.
Turns out - impeller gaskets were failing and spraying water inside the motor housing. Husband had to break the impeller mechanism to get it out to replace the gaskets, o rings AND the impeller.
At least the water is now balanced, passed the OCLT, but the water is cold and the 90's temps have not come back yet. Probably will when we leave for camping this weekend.
The pool has been nice to look at anyway. :sunny:

We need an emoji for gazing at our TFP sparkly pools.
