Skimmer-filter recommendation for 16' round pool.

Hello,

We just set up at 16' round by 48" pool. One with the poles. It came with an okay skimmer/cartridge filter.

If we were to replace the skimmer (I don't care for the basket or cartridge) and get a sand filter; what woukd you recommend that I get?

The pool will not get taken down over the winter, so I am going to need to get a winter cover for it. It did come with a cover/solar cover in one, but is there one that I could put on it when not in use during summer that doesn't act as a solar cover?

I just got the intex 10 inch sand filter wish I would haven't the 16 but didn't have the money and cartridges everyday sucked. It's already clearing my pool up.
