I bought the pool over a year ago, so I’m assuming there won’t be any warranty even though we just took it out of the box. I’m a single mom, we’ve had next to no help, now this. Is there anything I can do? I have already put over 4 grand into this dang thing for this to happen, I’m beyond upset.
 
What caused it?
You could probably replace the steel joint and corner piece relatively cheap and the vinyl shouldn't keep tearing but there are methods to "repair and strengthen" it. Epoxy impregnated fiberglass or cloth might do the trick with some care. I'd sew a few inches of cloth and cover that with epoxy. As long as that tear doesn't grow I think you'd be alright. There might even be some way to vulcanize new vinyl over fabric.

Don't give up. You'll find a solution and be swimming in no time.
 
Yes, we were trying to move it down a couple inches bc it wasn’t to where the legs were gonna be sitting on the foam instead of the wood. I see now that the picture isn’t very explanatory. The metal frame part is fine, that corner is made to be adjustable. It’s the liner that I’m freaked about bc it’s right on the part that actually holds the pool up. I called Intex, they’re closed on the weekends. I found the liner on their site & its $600. I’ve already spent far more than I ever expected to with this pool, I’m so frustrated. I’m going to research your tip, Ranchpig & see if I feel comfortable with it. We have been working on this for over a year, I’m so frustrated. Thanks so much for the tip.
 
I would try adding a layer or two of additional foam or sand under the part of the liner directly below the tear. Not under any support structure, legs or wood, just the edge of where the liner hits the ground. Maybe a foot by 6 to 8 inches, tapered so the lump isn't so noticeble in the pool. That might help take a little strain off the top of the liner. Then try some gorilla tape both inside and outside of the tear - or the epoxy infused fabric idea. I would be cautious of solvent based glues/patches that might actually weaken the liner. Experiment and watch the tear as the pool fills. Try to keep that area of the wall a little bit more "slack" (hence the lump of extra sand or foam). As long as the tear doesn't continue to run like an old pair of panty hose (does anybody remember those?) it should be fine.

I am even imagining a repair that could involve a strap of vinyl and two pieces of flat material bolted together. I might have to draw that on a piece of paper to explain. But it would basically be like how people install in-wall skimmers on these pools. Some kind of flat rigid material - two pieces of resin plastic about an inch by 6 to 8 inches would be perfect, or even wood or smooth edged metal. One on the outside, the other on the inside of the pool. They would be bolted together by about 3 or 4 stainless steel bolts and nuts (washers too?) and a piece of heavy vinyl (and old chunk of intex liner would be perfect) would wrap over the top bar and both ends would be trapped under the two pieces of plastic. Everything snugged up and the bolts tightened fully and I bet it would be perfect. If you could find an old liner on Craigslist you might even manage to match the grey color!
 
Thanks pv2, that last tip seems a little more doable to me, but drilling holes in the liner absolutely terrifies me. I can get a piece of liner, it won’t be gray, but it will have to do. My cousin has an old Intex blue round pool that they’ve never taken down, so I can use pieces of it if needed. I’m gonna go over all of this with my dad & see what he thinks. At this point, I don’t even want to touch it again. I cannot thank the TFP community enough.

Yeah I know the fear, took me a while to do my in-the-wall skimmer, but with the two rigid pieces of whatever that will be bolted together nice and tight, it will be more of a clamped together situation than just some 3 or 4 small-diameter attachments.
