Should this skimmer be replaced?

Need more help from everyone. Our Inground pool was just remodeled and we removed everything including the pool deck. But, contractor didn’t mention anything about skimmers. Kids noticed dirt sitting in the skimmer this weekend on the tile portion of the entrance. Stuck my head down and found this nice piece of work. I’m assuming something is wrong here and the pool contractor should have replaced and properly sealed the skimmer? Guessing the dirt is from water moving up and down when kids are playing and dirt coming in from between the concrete deck and the skimmer housing. Thoughts?

Yeah. The skimmers are original and over thirty years old. Contractor said he thought they were ok and didn’t want to charge us 1500 a piece to replace. We never once questioned costs with them so not sure why they were trying to save us money. They don’t look like they are going to last another 15 years. This is just one of many issues. We also have discoloration of the finish and plaster coming out around the stair tiles.
