Should I replace my check valve?

My Pentair IntelliFlow pump draws 2400 watts at 3450 rpm (filter pressure = 14psi, having just cleaned the filter and reloaded with fiber media). That seems unusually high given the numbers posted by other users on this forum. It seems I have a garden-variety check valve installed, and I am wondering whether it would be worth it to replace with a proper Jandy or similar check valve to reduce head. I run my pump 6 hours daily at 2300 rpm...

Mom,

I suspect that check valve to to keep your spa from draining back into your pool when the pump is off.

It will not effect the operating speed for your pump.

I think that a filter pressure of 14 when running your pump at full speed, actually sounds on the low side to me.

I run at 1200 RPM most of the time, but I have no heater.. You should be able to run less than 2300 if you wanted.

Thanks,

Jim R.
