I have used Leslie's Power Powder Plus (73% Calcium hypochlorite) last year which did not help me and its VERY expensive. Since its summer now here in TX i want to know which shock should I be using?
1) Should i put Calcium hypochlorite or dichlor (sodium dichloro)?
2) If so which brand shock should I use?

Thanks a lot for your help.

What are you trying to achieve using those products?
After 5 years it might be time for a refresher.
ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry

i had a very bad time last summer (1st time) when pool turned green and nothing worked. I called a pool technician and got a new filter (4 cartirdge). So now i need to know along with chlorine should i also add shock and which one? Thank You!

TFPC does not use 'shock'. I suggest you read through the links I posted above.

What test kit do you have?

Algae is not a filtering problem, it is chemistry problem.

Shock is chlorine. Shock is a verb. To shock means to raise your chlorine level to 40% of your CYA level. How do you currently chlorinate your pool? How are you testing your water?

Great. Then review all the links I have posted.
You need a proper test kit, see Test Kits Compared. I suggest the TF-100 A proper test kit is needed to get the accurate water chemistry results needed to follow the TFP protocols.

Not sure what you mean? You need to test the pool water chemistry to know what to add. Blindly adding trichlor and dichlor is not a way to manage pool water chemistry.

When you get your test kit, post up your test results and we can guide you from there.
