Ok you southerners. . . I want to shiplap the pool house bathroom. I chose this cause the bathroom will be not used in winter months so I deff didn't want to use drywall. I didn't want to tile the whole thing cause i'm just tiled out. So shiplap. . .

I never used it before. I have seen it used on HGTV like 1 billion times. I'm using a synthetic material that I will paint color. Trim and door will be an off white. The company I'm using is Boral cause I have used their trim board all over the outside of the pool house. My house has a lot of Azek on it and I just don't like it. Doesn't take paint well at out for outside.

Any advice? Ideas? was just going to run it all horizontal. Trim on bottom, crown on top, ceiling will be the oil sealed sapele that I am using for all the ceilings i the pool house.

Is there different reveals with shiplap in-between boards? Looks like siding almost. Just butted joints without a bead.

Bath is 7x7 with 9 foot ceilings. Pedestal sink will be used and a regular toilet they are biscuit colored.

Thanks all!

jim

Jim, my friend is going to do one of the walls in the master bedroom with shiplap. So far they have picked out the wood they are going to use but that is as far as they have gotten so no real help here.

Why not drywall (well green board due to the moisture)? I taped, mudded, finished our pool house (750 sq feet with a loft). It came out great!

Hi Jimjim,

I finished a small pool house room in shiplap. Lowe’s had pre stained broads in a color we were happy with. They are tongue and grove. Used white for the ceiling. Went up ez using a brad nailer.

Been following your project. Awesome job!

Hey Kim!

Just cause it will not be heated or anything in the winter and no way of controlling moisture we figured the joints will just crack and nails popping all over the place. and then i got the shiplap idea in my head for a totally different look.

oh that looks good. ok i see the profile. that is how the boral reveal is so that makes me feel better. the material is special order. i know i don't have to take it when they bring it in but i didn't want them to go through the trouble and then i don't use it cause i do business there alot. didn't want to tick anyone off.

how has urs held up being wood over the winters in NY? figured i should be good cause it's synthetic. it doesn't move much at all. it can even be used at grade or slightly below without issues. so figured it should hold up well.
