SF Bay Area build (done!!!)

Almost forgot to update the solar blanket testing

Pool loses about 5 degrees from peak temperature then returns there during the day
Right now it is maintaining around 80 with cover + solar only

This morning it was at 80 after our 88 degree party.

It was super windy and cold overnight so I think larger than normal drop was to be expected

There are some minor punch list items and final inspection pending but this thread is nearing the finish line.

Will probably start hopping around the other sub forums with pump and timing questions when that happens.

my wife and SIL just had their bday so we cranked the heat up to 88....omg I think that is the perfect pool temperature it was so nice (I say this not having seen the gas bill yet...)
Nice pics! 88 is a nice temp.. I set mine to 85 for winter parties combined with the spa it makes for a fun day.... As to the gas bill, I found it was cheaper than renting a party room at a pizza place or some gigantic bounce house for the day... So I was always up for firing up the heater for a get together (don't tell the kids, its cheaper to heat the pool!)... real numbers, last one we did cost me between 50-60 bux added to my PGE bill. Your heater may be more efficient as mine is 15 years old. ;)

I just did the math in my head are your wife and SIL twins to have a bday on the same day?

I didn't say same day!!
Copy that.. Over the years our pool has been the center piece of team parties, birthday parties, graduation parties, baby showers, as well as anytime we just wanted friends to hangout... And its soo cool that the kids get to spend time with their cousins... Been there, done that.. get ready for a fun ride! ?

I absolutely love the bubble cover and solar. It is mid october with temps in the low to mid 70s and the pool is naturally hovering around 85

The gas heater is simply a luxurious cherry on top that I fire up for parties now so they can all enjoy 88-90

There are noticeable cold spots but turning the water features on quickly fixes that and gets everything evenly distributed

I am on my own for pool chemicals now

FC was freaking 21 when my builder turned it over. I turned my SWG off and have been watching it slowly drift down. The bubble cover once again is doing work and preventing UV burn off of the FC.

I need to fine tune the SWG next. I figure a generic maintenance run time and then a manual "we are swimming" run time should cover things

Need to pick up some MA but besides that everything is looking good

Also had the final contractor come in and out....initially we were heavily leaning net. Well we changed to a fence at the end.

After doing the bubble cover on/off my wife and I figured adding net time was going to make us real cranky.

Fence basically turned the outdoor patio into a room.

Now I need a giant tv to mount to the wall and some patio furniture

I had my SWG set at 50% for 8 hours a day with the cover on and the FC still crept up about 4ppm in two weeks. I have to let mine drift down and lower the percentage a tad. Just have to play around with it to see where the FC will maintain itself. Good luck!

I don't think your going to find the SWG settings to be so well behaved... there will be a whole myriad of conditions that will affect your FC and in turn your SWG setting... The two biggest effects for me are, heating the pool and putting the cover on... oh and bather load, And I almost forgot, smoke from the fires in the foothills, as well as combinations of everything... So I just find a happy medium "%" and tweak it as I go based on what my FC sez I need. ;)

Cool.. Now we just need that with the falls going, of perhaps just the Grotto and shelf.

Side project update

We were told an outdoor toilet would be a 15k to 20k project minimum.

Went with plan B instead

A camper toilet if you are wet and gotta go. Now i need to assemble a privacy curtain frame using all my leftover PVC
