Several issues - salt vs chlorine?

Would this be good enough? Its amazon prime and can arrive quicker

Taylor Service Complete Pool Water Test Kit K-2006C

Yes. That is correct. Amazon is hit or miss. I've had some arrive from Amazon with old and expired reagents...after that happened, I switched to TFTkits. They are fairly quick to ship and will make ANY issue right.

Your choice.

The TFTestkits are a better vale and are better suited to the residential pool owner.
They contain more of the reagents we use most often.

Testkits from Amazon can be hit or miss as far as the reagents freshness/expiration dates.

If you order a TF-Pro Salt today, it will ship Monday and you will have it Wednesday or Thursday.

I see what happened. Google of "TF100 test kit" came up with the following image:

He clicked on the second, and then clicked on the picture of the same as shown on Google. Time for an irate complaint to Amazon for a total refund. That is NOT a TF-100, and the seller has deliberately hoodwinked you by including that model number in their "hidden" data used by search engines to drive you to their product on Amazon. Also confusing is that searching for TF-100 in Amazon itself produces no hits, but a bazillion sort of close matches.
At least he hit on one in the K-2006C that can work. But ditto on ordering from TFTestkits.net Pretty fast, and very, very trustworthy.

Add 3ppm of liquid chlorine PER DAY, START TOMORROW, NOTHING ELSE, until the test kit arrives.
Good morning, while i wait for the professional test kit i wanted to report what I believe are good news. I just tested water with the strips and the chlorine has stabilized and did not go down at all over night. The level indicated are the exact same as the test i did last night. TC and FC remain a bit on the high side thought, above the suggested level but not at the SLAM level. Bromine is also quite high vs the target indicated on strip. Alkalinity went down a lot. Ph good.
Most importantly water is CRYSTAL clear and lost that bit of haziness that had up until yesterday.
Perhaps the 2 gallons of LC i poured yesterday did the job (?)
Anyhow as soon as i receive the test kit i advise on results, meanwhile let me know kindly if you suggest anything else a part from the small dose of LC.
THANK YOU!

As you've seen over and over by now- algae is VERY sneaky, and until you get the "professional" kit, the numbers you are getting can be very, very suspect. So while things seem to be really good - you don't know for sure. That said, knowing one can't trust the numbers, is there any difference between what you got for TC and FC? When you get your kit, using the powder and the drops, it will test for Free Chlorine (FC), and Combined Chlorine (CC). Any more than the faintest amount of CC means you aren't done yet. The math: FC+CC = TC. So with your tests, TC and FC should be the same number.
Since you are still adding essentially blindly without having the kit yet, at least keep adding enough to keep the numbers for what you do have to test with still on the high side. You'd really hate it if by cutting back a couple of days too soon, algae came roaring back.

Bromine??? Have you ever put things with Bromine in the pool????

FC and TC both test the same at 5. I hear you about algae being sneaky but at least now pool test positive on chlorine while up until yesterday despite shocking it was always at zero. Also, water was always clear with a tiny bit of haze but now is perfect.
So i am just looking to be positive.
Yes as soon as i get the kit i will test properly.
Bromine i never added anything with bromine i guess is the chlorine...

Hello, this morning pool tested again great on chlorine, it stopped losing chlorine overnight. Level stayed at 5 same as last night.
Maybe problem gone but lets see.
When i get the test kit....what do i need to test exactly?

So tomorrow morning my FC has to be between 6 and 11 while now is at 4,5? So it has to go up?
Add 3.5 ppm tonight and test a bit later to verify you got there, or close enough.

Then test again in the AM before dawn to ensure there was little/no loss without UV.

If you leave the pump on overnight you won't have to wake up earlier to mix it before testing.
