Several issues - salt vs chlorine?

Hello, i got the tf100 test and i did myself. The readings are from the test you guys suggested except phosphate that has been reading constant at pool store. I also tested nitrate myself and came at 0 so i did not report it here. My pool is small about 11k gallons.
Thank you
Thanks for clarifying.
The CYA test is hard to do, so you may want to repeat it a couple of times, to hone in on the level. Indirect, consistent light helps. Also just a quick glance to the dot and away. Staring at it can make it seem better/worse.

Yeah, the guess Cl amount prior to validation only bumped up the FC by about 1 ppm, so it easily dissipated in the sun - or algae, very quickly.
Safe to swim? You have nothing sanitizing the pool currently. So nothing killing algae, or other bacteria/viruses.

See this information: The Free Chlorine and Cyanuric Acid Relationship
Once you have refined what your CYA level is (round up to higher, if between marks), get your CL up to the high side of the recommended levels. THEN it is safe to swim. Test a couple of times per day right now, to make sure it stays up at the recommended level. Even at the SLAM level, it is safe to swim, as long as you can see the bottom.

From there we can advise other chem adjustments that may be called for and set you on the path to knock down the algae causing the haze.

I am trying to figure out on pool math how much liquid chlorine i need to add but i am having hard time understanding how to calculate. My guesstimate is 10 oz per time? Any advise?

Go to "effects of adding" in the menu.
Make sure your pool volume is correct.
Enter liquid chlorine for chemical.
Enter the % concentration of the liquid chlorine you have.
Adjust the amount, in ounces, until you get the difference between your test and your target.

In your pool, 11 oz. of 12.5% Liquid Chlorine will raise your FC by 1.0. A gallon will raise your FC by 11ppm.

Amazing. With my 10% liquid chlorine it appears that 30oz will raise to 2.3 so i guess i add that amount 3 times per day. Right?

10% in an 11K pool will raise FC BY 2.1.

You need to test, note result. Enter into pool math as test result. Then go to the FC on the home page to get to Free Chlorine page. Select SLAM with the check box. It will show your target. Then enter liquid chlorine and %. It will tell you how much to add to get back to slam level. It will be different everytime you test and get a different result. If you can test and replace more often, but no more often than every 2 hours, it will go faster.

Ok, is it possible that the target it gives me is 16 FC ppm and i need to add 200 oz? Seems a lot. Also the result is the amount to add per day or? Thanks for your patience

Add 1/2 gallon (64oz) of 10% right now.
This will increase the FC by 4.5

Chances are your pool will use 3-4 ppm per day.
This loss needs to be replenished daily.

Use the FC/CYA chart to determine target range for your CYA.
Keep FC towards the high end of target range for your CYA.

Do the Overnight Chlorine Loss Test tonight and report badk your findings.

Until you get your SWG issues resolved, treat the pool as a non-SWG pool with reference to the FC/CYA Levels.

Fill out your signature with pool, all pool equipment (include manufacturers and model numbers) and test kit info.

Can i swim while i do all of this?
Fyi this am i shocked it with a bag. Just measured chlorine and it went up a bit but still below where it should be. Can i add liquid now even if i shocked it this am?

@proavia we are slamming.

Re-read the SLAM process. Print it out, that will help. Link-->SLAM Process

You should test several times a day, up to every 2 hours, test, use pool math and replace to SLAM level FC.

Yes if the pool is clear, FC between mimimum and up to SLAM level FC is safe.

Yes. Use liquid for the SLAM

I think i need a chemistry degree, lol.
Ok ok so the SLAM level according to chart has to be 20, based on 50 CYA level. Does this mean that the FC target is 20? Which based on pool math then means 250 oz…..am i looking at this right?

Enter your fc result into pool mat as log a test result. Go back to home page and click FC. Then set your target at 20…it will give you how much to add. If you test 18, you only add enough for 2fc. If you test 10, you need to add enough to raise fc by 10.

Use only liquid chlorine - those "bags" also add either calcium or CYA.

It is safe to swim with FC anywhere between minimum and SLAM Process levels - as long as you can see the entire length of the bottom of the pool (swimmer safety). With higher FC, just rinse your swimwear after you get out.
