Second Time Pool Owne

Second pool install for me and the first for my husband. we are in Virginia. I have a question, besides chlorine tablets and shock what other chemicals should I have on hand for my pool?
Hi - welcome.

TFP methodology advises against the tabs and shock method for numerous reasons. It's a bad, expensive, way to care for a pool.

I recommend reading up in the Pool School section.

TFP methods rely on liquid chlorine (or salt water chlorine generators), acid, and stabilizer. Very little else is needed and you'll spend pennies on the dollar versus the pool store gunk.

First thing you should have on hand is a good test kit. Second is that you should have a good understanding of the chemicals you are putting in the pool. You should visit the Pool School. You will find that the chlorine tablets contain cyanuric acid (CYA) and their use will raise the CYA level in your pool where you will need to empty and refill your pool.
