I'm trying to purchase screenlogic but the parts I see include the remote and rs232 module for outside?. Do I have to replace my existing outdoor module to use screenlogic? Any help on parts I need?

Brian,

Is it correct that if you have both ScreenLogic and a Pentair Remote that you would have one set of transceivers for ScreenLogic and a separate set of transceivers for the Pentair Remote?

Keep the remote for when ScreenLogic decides you need to reboot your entire network, downgrade the firmware in order to upgrade it and erase your hard drive and reinstall DOS v6.2....

My RF Remote # of "blue screens of death" = zero, 4 years of constant uptime with nothing more than battery changes once per year or so....

Yes, both will be needed

Not even worthy of a response :brickwall:

I will have to up my trolling skillz to get a better response from you... :poke:

I must admit that i too am saying huh???

Maybe if you elaborate a little on your comments, it might clear up what you are trying to convey.

Because i...

Never have needed to re-boot the network to get SL to work. Do you have the latest firmware for your S/L brick? Not having the latest version represents a good percentage of "not working" complaints.
Don't think you can "downgrade" the SL firmware. To be honest, I really don't know if you can or not, i have never needed to...
Erase the hard drive??? That's a little excessive, don't you think?
Dos v6.2. Running S/L on anything but Windows, Apple iOS, or android is not recommended nor do i think you can get support by the manufacturer. Meaning they won't want to offer you any tec support for setup issues.
The Blue screen comment, i think you are saying that the remote has been pretty bullet proof for you? Too bad that Pentair charges more for that unit than they do for the S/L. I think that is because they are trying to cram S/L down the public's throat!

I would agree that sometimes S/L isn't the best fit, where the remote is.

You're not "in" on the "joke". Brian and Jim have been harassing me for quite a while now to ditch the brick and go with ScreenLogic and I adamantly refuse on the basis of an irrational fear of anything technologically more advanced than circa 1984.

If I could bring back 8-track tapes, BetaMax (it was the better format!!!) and bi-polar logic circuits and ditch all this CMOS silliness, life would be so much happier....you'd just need some flame-retardant blue-jeans to keep your pants from bursting into flames from the heat generated by bi-polar circuitry.

But, in general, my remote has served me well for 4+ years now without ever a glitch (other than changing batteries). There is simply no motivation to switch other than "to be like all the other cool kids". Turning on or off my pool using my cell phone from work really holds no charm for me (then again, I don't work so....) and installing more WiFi equipment in my house is about as appealing as a 2 week old tuna sandwich.

Therefore, I will continue to resist all efforts to advance the technology and try my best to subtly undermine Brian's efforts to convince poor, cash strapped pool build newbies otherwise ;)

Consider me "up to date"...

Carry on boys, I love a good hazing.

Well, I've noticed you're quite the expert when it comes to heater issues. I could troll your posts as well if you're feeling left out? I'd say something like this -

"Forget the extra gas or electric bills! All anyone needs is a good cast iron wood burning stove to heat a pool! And, if you live near coal country, BONUS!!"

Whaddaya say?!?

:laughblue:

Not really a pool heater, but cool nonetheless.
