ScreenLogic no longer controlling VSP pump speed

Adam,

What kind of valves do you have that allow you to select the skimmers and main drain?

If they are Jandy valves, you can take the top off and make sure nothing is inside clogging things up.

You can also stick a drain king into the valves and force water backwards from the valve back into the skimmer and see what you can blow out.

I don’t think the lines are clogged. I have check valves and it looks pretty clean. I did notice today that I can see water dripping out of the outflow line of the pump. Could this be the source of the air getting in? If so, how do I go about sealing it?

Great lol - if you don’t think this is the problem - what do you think is the issue? There is air coming from somewhere - should I be concerned that there are actual line leaks? The other odd thing I noticed is that there is a steady pool of water under the sand filter. Like water is leaking out from somewhere. Could this be contributing?

A leak at the sand filter or at the pump output line should leak when the pump is running.

At the very least, it would let in air when the pump was off allowing the water in the pump basket to drain back into the pool.

Please bring me up to speed as I think I got lost.. What is the problem that you are currently having?

my VSP filter pump wasn’t fully priming. The pool guy fixed this by disabling the pump priming sequence. I don’t think this has actually resolved the problem though. Now, I have to run the pump at higher speeds or I get a low flow error and I see the pump basket not completely full of water. The pump isn’t even a year old nor the pool. I used to be able to run it around 1800rpm and now I have to keep it close to 2500 to keep the air from filling the basket. I assume there is an air leak but can’t find it. I don’t want to fry the motor and I also want to be able to run the pump at lower speeds to save electricity.

Adam,

Check to see if your sand filter has a "Recirculate" or "By-Pass" mode.. If so, but the MPV in the recirculate position and see if the pump will prime and fill the pump basket.

The leaking pump output pipe will cause the water in your pump basket to drain back into the pool when the pump is off. So, the next time you start the pump it will take longer and it will fill the filter with air, which will then 'burp' out of your returns.

You need to find where your sand filter is leaking. It should still be under warranty.
