Sand from step weights in the pool

The weighted bags in the bottom of the wedding cake steps busted and there is a lot of sand in the pool. Can I vacuum out the sand to waste and not hurt my pool pump?

I would attempt to scoop as much as you can out with a fine skim net first.
Go at it broom & dustpan style.
Vacuuming the rest to waste is fine.

Depending on if it’s fine sand or heavy sand an actual broom and dustpan or kids toys may work for heavy sand. Like playing at the beach. Just move slow…

If it’s fine sand it will puff up…

I’ve seen shop vac too…. Get long nozzle down and don’t turn on until next to sand… you’ll have to empty often but it’s made to suck dirt and water…
