Sand filter pressure

Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what my filter pressure should be at start. My water has been cloudy all season so far, so I did a deep clean of the sand filter. I think there were channels because it is working much better now and actually building pressure if I brush the pool. I've only had the pool a few years and in my mind 13 PSI seem to be the normal clean pressure and I would backwash around 20 to 25. I'm wondering if I've had trouble keeping my water clear because I'm not using the filter correctly or who installed it didn't add enough sand Etc. The filter is a Pentair sd80 and I have a 1 horsepower pump. Would 13 to 15 psi sound about normal for a clean pressure? Next season I'm going to replace the sand so I'll know the right amount is in there and that everything is working properly, but for now if someone had some insight I would appreciate it. Thanks

Cloudy water? That is usually a chemistry problem.

My 21" sandfilter with 1.5HP pump has a clean pressure of about 12.5psi. I backwash when my pressure rises 25% (15-16psi). Letting the pressure rise to almost double is seriously reducing your flow rate, and reducing the total volume of water filtered.
