Sand filter pressure change question

Hello— so yesterday we had a fun filled day in the pool, there were quite a few people in the pool for a few days so I wasn’t surprised when my husband told me that the filter was at a “time to clean” pressure. We planned to do it today. I turned the pump on and took a look and the pressure was normal. I don’t have any issues and figured maybe it will quickly build to “need to clean” level but wasn’t sure. Thanks!

Backwash your sand filter when the pressure rises by 25% over clean pressure. Do not go by the 'Time to Clean' things as most of those are way too much pressure rise.

As far as pump cycling changing the pressure much, it can, but not in the long term. The mixing of the sand can change the pressure loss through the sand, albeit temporarily.
