Sand Filter on AGP sprung leak.

My sand filter on my above ground developed a small crack near the top. I tried to seal with JB weld but it did nothing. I currently have a 100lb 19" waterway sand filter, with a 1hp pump. The pump is a fairly new generic that actually works well. I just need the new filter. I have an 18' AGP with about 7600 gallons. Someone told me with the 1hp pump the 19" is to small I should buy a bigger filter, any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance this site has been so helpful!

Hayward S244T (24") is a very common filter and cheap-ish....less than $300 online. Plus new sand of course! Would certainly not be overkill for your pool. Just installed a new one to replace a 20 year old one that was working but had several issues...money well spent.

I was looking at the S210T, is there much of a difference with my pool as far as performance? I figure it's twice the sand as the crappy filter I already have. Sux to have to change midseason, just put new sand in in may.

As far as filters go, it's best to go oversized.

With that said, I have a 21" sandfilter with a 1.5HP pump on my 18' X 48" pool, it performs just fine.

And you can re-use the sand from the old filter. Sand is sand -------------------------
