Sand filter medium

Do the CH test again. Use a 10 ml water sample.

I'll redo in a bit....but if it takes 34 drops on a 20ml sample wouldn't it be logical to assume it'll take 17 on a 10ml. So it would be 425 if that is correct.

34 drops using a 25 ml sample would be 340 ppm CH. If you use a 10 ml sample, it should be about 14 drops.

Merged threads.
I've been told to use muratic acid as a phDown. I've also been told that muratic acid will make Sodium bisulfate drop calcium out of solution.

So is muratic acid ok to use?

OK -- well, the data says your system should not be generating any scale, or at least the amount you are seeing.

Do you manually vacuum the pool or have a cleaner? It should be picked up by your cleaner.

pH Down is sodium bisulfate. That is not good with a SWCG. It will shorten its life span. Also, if the sulfates get high enough, it can create calcium sulfate. But it is not very soluble in acid so your other thread said what you show is soluble. I am merging the threads.

I will say there is less of it this morning than usual. I'm doing a slam because my salt cell was left off and created an issue. So maybe doing the slam is helping?
