Not necessarily. If you are assured you have no algae by passing multiple OCLT's, and your daytime FC loss is normal, then a high quality chitosan clarifier is something to try. You will need to clean your filter, possibly multiple times.
It is NOT recommended to use clarifier as maintenance as recommended by most pool store companies.
 
FYI - The water has always been safe to go in as far as the FC level goes. We just say (for safety reasons) never to go in if you can't see the bottom. As long as the FC does not exceed the SLAM level based on your CYA, it's safe. But you used the product so that's behind you now. Since you are ready to start the SWG, you need to increase the CYA to 70. Monitor the water conditions and go from there. Good luck!
