Saltwater Pools in the Winter Question

Just to be open.. the downside of a salt system is that they do not work when the water temps gets below about 52 degrees. So about 3 months in the DFW area. During this time, I use Liquid Chlorine, but pools do not use much chlorine during the winter.

How do you use Liquid Chlorine during those 3 cold months in DFW? How is it added?

I just manually add the Liquid Chlorine. You do not need a lot, as it burns off pretty slowly in the winter.

If your CYA is low, you can also use Chlorine Tablets, but I personally like the almost instant response of adding Liquid Chlorine vs. the tablets.

Thanks! I don't even have a pool yet, but I have been reading a ton here on TFP. I'm planning to build my own pool after getting crazy bids back in October 2021, which are likely even higher now. I plan to start a thread to get help with my design very soon.
