Saltwater Pool Disaster!

A negligible amount.
OK
You got this!

Each time I think I do, it seems like things start going sideways...
Tomorrow is another day! 🥱

Not until you pass all 3 SLAM criteria. Complete the SLAM first. Then you can raise the CYA from 30 to 70 to help your SWG work more efficiently..
So, if FC was back to 12, this morning, after adding bleach last night, do I keep testing through today, to see if it stays up?
The water is still a little cloudy. 🙁

Yep! Do it every 1-2 hours and your slam will take less time. After you pass all three criteria for SLAM, then you can let FC drift down, then turn on SWCG.

It's great the FC is holding. Cloudiness is always a concern. Please try to continue with the SLAM Process and let's see what happens this evening and make a decision tomorrow. Sand filters can be a little slow filtering out all the residual stuff, but we can address that tomorrow.

OK--thanks so much!

I'm really struggling to keep the FC level up--the last test showed a drop from 12 to 9 in just two hours, with solid cloud cover. I guess that means it's still killing off lots of contaminants...? 🫤

The FC was at 12, just now (10:30 a.m.) after reading 14, 11 hours ago (11:48 p.m.)
I'll keep checking levels every hour, or so, keeping it at 12 throughout the day, right? 🤔

You should be checking it earlier in the morning to do the chlorine loss test. You want to test AFTER light stops hitting the water and BEFORE it starts hitting it again in the morning. 10:30am is a little harder to tell if the loss is coming from sunlight or algae.

The FC level needs to be maintained at SLAM level until you pass the OCLT.

Make sure you test 30 minutes after final chlorine/bleach addition with the pump running. Make sure to test before the sun hits the pool in the morning. You indicated that you tested at 10:30am. Sun could/did hit pool and consume some FC. Test before sunrise.

GOOD MORNING!!!
I think we made it! After 15 days, 22 gallons of bleach, overnight FC-12, CC-0, clear, sparkling water, this morning-- it's a BEAUTIFUL DAY!
THANKS for all the help, my fine Forum Friends--let me know if you think I've missed anything.
