Salt Water Generator Not Giving Accurate Readings

My pool was installed with the Hayward ProLogic Automation System. It keeps giving me a low salt reading and I've added 6 bags of salt, so I know I shouldn't be getting a low reading of 1900 PPM. When checking my chlorine level manually, it shows I have very little. Since the equipment is showing low salt, it's shutting the SWG off. Not sure what the next steps would be. I would appreciate any feedback I can get.....thanks.

The salt cell is a Hayward T Cell 15 Turbo Cell.

The Chlorinator is showing to be off. I can go to the screen where I can test the salt level and it will turn the chlorinator on for just a few seconds. Sometimes I'm getting 0000 PPM and other times I'm getting 2000 PPM. What's the best way to manually check your salt level......test strips or just take a water sample to the pool store?

Try this:

Turn percentage to zero and turn off power to the box for 1 minute.

Then restore power to the box and go to settings and turn on superchlorinate.

Go to diagnostics and watch what the numbers show. Wait 30 seconds and then press the "+" button to force reverse and record the new diagnostics.

In any case, you need to know the salinity with certainty.

I recommend the K-1766 salt test kit.

The first > shows Maintain ORP Level 715mV (650-800 best), the next > is setting day and time, next is backlight on/off, etc. Nothing about superchlorinate. Maybe we have different systems. I have the Hayward ProLogic P4.

Yes, I have the Sense and Dispense and it hasn't worked for awhile so I have it unplugged and I'm checking my pH manually and adding acid as needed. Kept having trouble with the pump motor on the S&D as well as it reading my pH incorrectly. I really over added acid due to reading the equipment.......learned the hard way to manually check chemical levels. I did receive the salt water test kit you suggested and I've nearly doubled the salt in the pool because of the incorrect reading. I've got 5400 ppm and should have 3200 ppm. So low salt ain't the problem. It looks more and more like my T Cell may have given up the ghost. What replacement cell would you recommend?

I wonder since I was not checking my salt level manually and depending on the equipment to alert me when salt was low that possibly I could have slowly added too much salt over time and my chlorinator cut off and quit making chlorine. Every time I checked and it was showing 2600 or 2700, I added a bag, but it seemed like it was always reading 2600 or so and I'd add a bag every week or so. The only way to lose salt is via a leak or splashing it out but I was strictly going by what the equipment showed.

My guess is I need to drain out about 30% of the water and replace with untreated water to get back to recommended salt level. Maybe then the cell will start generating some chlorine. In the meantime, I will add chlorine to the pool because there is none in there.
