Salt startup and levels

I think your pool volume is much less than you state.

Turn it off for a couple days.
Would pool builder be way way off on what they say my pool gallons are? Can someone better explain the chemical test? The article that explains it would have you add like 70 drops to get your alkalinity. And at what point would I want to add the sodium bicarbonate like it talks about? It talks about a flat 5 lbs for pools that are 15K-30K gallons in size. What about for my 7800 gallon pool or smaller?

I think you could be correct about the wrong number of gallons . My pool is 28 feet by 9.5 feet in size (rectangle). But 6 of the 28 feet in length is a sun shelf with only a foot of water or less and turn 2 long steps. The depth at bottom of steps is 3 Ft, middle is 5 then other end that has a bench is 4 feet. So my pool is probably closer to 6,000 gallons based on a calculator I found. So
In pool math should I change my volume to 6000?

I would not do the alkalinity test. Our fill water is high in TA so no need to mess with that.

That volume sounds more likely. Use that in Poolmath.

So my FC is finally down to 8 today. Was 9 yesterday. Should I wait another day to turn back on my salt cell? And what should I set it at? 4 hours at 30% was too much last time. So 20% for 4 hours? 30% and less hours for run time ?

My alkalinity is high at 90 right now. Pool math days to lower I need to lower my PH to 7.2 then aerate. I need to lower anyway due to my 8.0 pH. Should I really lower to 7.2? Also, by aerate, run my water feature?

Start the SWcG back up today. Use 20% for 4 hours. Maintain pH in the 7’s. No need to force TA lower.
