Hi, opened the pool a couple weeks ago, shocked and it looks good but my chlorine is low. We have a SWG and it says it's working and not low on salt although we haven't added any since we closed the pool. Would not adding salt make a difference on the chlorine even though the SWG says it's not low on salt

Thanks

No, it wouldn't make any difference. What SWG do you have?

What is the actual salinity?

SWGs will produce a little more chlorine at higher salinity. However, you need to keep the salinity in the range specified by the manufacturer.

If you're trying to bring up your FC, do it with bleach first and then let the SWG maintain it. Otherwise it takes too long for a SWG to bring it up from zero to your goal level and you risk letting algae set in.
