Salt pool only runs through filter on high. had a clog; now it doesn’t. Its a variable speed, but the water wont run through the filter on lower speed

That thing on top of the pool that water shoots out of it when you turn it on. LOL. Nothing comes out of it unless pool is on high. My new white filter should be turning green getting the pool water through it, it barely is after days

That just means that low speed of your filter doesn't have enough pressure to send water out of the water feature (if that's what you're describing." Not surprising. My aerator does the same in that it will reach across the pool at full speed but on low speed only spits out about 2 feet.

Now that you're here on TFP, read through the Pool School and learn how the site recommends you care for your pool so that it doesn't go green again. This means you turn your back on the pool stores and follow the successful guidance here.

I left, it was on cycle 3000 rpm and came back and it was off. Turned the whole breaker off, when back on it started at 1200 and it wasn't powerful enough to prime and fill that basket thing on pump.

Did you open the pump basket in between turning off then on?

Pumps should not lose prime when shut off.

Also, pumps usually won't prime on lower speeds like that so that is not surprising.

Well it shouldn't shut off all together. It won't let me add a third pic, won't let me add anymore pics, i took several and it says they are too big. I've tried 8 of them

Again, low pressure does not mean that there is zero flow rate.

But the bigger issue is you have algae in the pool which clogs the filter and reduces flow rate. Fix that problem first before worrying about low speed.

SLAM Process

The filter is brand new and barely any green will get to it. I've cleaned it already today. At 1200 it use to work just fine(water was at top in that basket, pool was crystal clear) and had different cycles all day. Till the clog, now it all runs different and shuts off randomly. The pump is 6 months old, Black and Decker 1.5hp

Algae will most certainly get to the filter and clog it up. Algae is suspended in the water so when water goes through the filter, so does the algae.

This could be caused by a clogged impeller and/or you still have a partial clog in the suction line that was not fully cleared out.

Where was the initial clog?

What is the filter pressure on high speed?

I had one guy say it was the filter and tried replacing pump. I replaced filter, he wasn't so sure about himself so said he wasn't available for a week lol. Next guy said the floor repair system was broken and did something and it started flowing again. He is out of town. On full speed pressure is at about 9, it is at zero at that other tubing (pic above) running by the pool that he worked on that made it start going.

9 PSI is much too low for that pump and system at full speed. It means there is probably still a clog and most likely in suction lines since the pump was replaced.

Before this happened, where you vacuuming the pool of a lot of debris?

No, the guy I bought the house from used an old brush and the bristles were everywhere. I got it cleaned and the pool perfect and switched it to salt water. It puked up a pile of bristles a couple weeks later from somewhere and I scooped them all out. Next day new salt cell said flow problem, so had that for a week, then it was flowing alright after the guy did the floor repair thing, but it isn't running right now per above

The low filter PSI still points to a suction side clog.

You can try to flush the suction line from the pump pipe inlet towards the skimmer using a garden hose wrapped in a wet rag.

Can you post a picture of your all your pad equipment?

Reduce the picture size in any paint program.

OR, simply attach the file with the link "Attach files" under the posting text box.

When you shut the pump off, does the filter gauge go to zero? I just want to make sure the 9 PSI is accurate.

Also, when running on full speed, does the pump fully prime so there is no air in the pump basket?
