Salt keeps reading low and check salt

Hello-

I have a Hayward aqua rite with a t-9 cell. Recently it started flashing check salt and inspect cell. I checked my salt today manually and found it at about 3100. I then cleaned the cell, reset the “check cell” light and calibrated the unit to 3100. This was about 8 hours ago. I just checked and it’s now reading 2600 with both check salt and inspect cell flashing again.

I have had this unit for 8 years and am on my 3rd cell. Never seen this issue before. Any suggestions?

What test kit did you use to check your salt level?

Aquarite indicating lower salt levels then actual is a sign the cell is depleted.

This is the basic information we need to know in diagnosing a problem:

• Report all readings when you..
  • Move the switch from auto to off and check all of the readings.
  • Move the switch back to auto and recheck the readings.
  • Move the switch to off for a minute and then back to auto and recheck the readings.
• What are the first seven characters of the cell and box serial numbers?

I will work to get the readings you are asking for. Not home at the moment. I don’t *think* the cell is depleted as it’s making chlorine and is in the correct range each time I test for chlorine, but who’s knows. I will get the readings and report back as soon as I can.

Sorry for the late reply. Issue was definitely my salt cell was depleted. Replaced and all has been well. Thanks!
