Safety of deck jets when the SWG is on

Maybe this belongs in some other forum. Kick me there if so.

The grandkids love the deck jets. I'm trying to determine if it's necessary to turn off the SWG when they're on. I don't think so, but asking for second (and third...) opinions.

The VSP kicks up to 90 gpm. The SWG output is 1.25 pounds per day.

So i get:

1.25 lb/day / 24 hr/day / 60 min/hr = 0.000868 lb / min
90 gpm * 8.35 lb/gal = 751.5 lb/min
0.000868 lb/min / 751.5 lb/min * 1 million = 1.15 ppm

This is in addition to the TC already in the water, which is normally 5-6 ppm . So max 7.15 ppm which of course is fine.

Is my math correct? Many thanks.

I am not going to go through math, but regardless, the FC level of the water coming out of the SWCG is at most 1 or 2 ppm higher than the bulk water level. There is nothing dangerous about it.

Thanks. I guess this is also why the idea that SWG's "temporarily super-chlorinate" the water going through them is malarchy.

Your pool plumbing equates to a fire hose diluting it, regardless of how high the concentration would be in a bucket.
