Safe PPM to swim in

Hey All,

I just started the SLAM process and with CYA @ 50 (actually 54 ish-rounded) and FC @ 2, it said my SLAM level will be 20 ppm. I added 176 oz of 10% using the pool math calculator.

It says it’s safe to swim in, ….. is it ?

We always round up so 54ish is CYA 60 and SLAM FC of 24.

As long as your FC tests below SLAM FC it is safe to swim.

Swimming is safe between min and SLAM, providing you can see well enough to rescue a disabled swimmer on the bottom. (God forbid).

CYA buffers the active sanitizing agent (HOCL) and slam FC is less harsh than 1 FC in tap water with 0 CYA. And tap water may have up to 4 FC.
