Running Heater in freezing temps

Goo morning.
we're supposed to get a hard freeze here in Houston in the next few days. My freeze protect works but i wanted to ask the question of its OK to run the heater when its below freezing? I know some people mentioned that if the power was out - turning on the heater when things are frozen can cause damage...but im expecting to have power so everything should be flowing. Just wondering if turning on the heater when its freezing gourds might cause any issues with temp differential as that heater fires up.
Appreciate any thoughts.

Read the manual for your heater. Operating the heater at continuous water temperatures under 68F is typically not advised as it creates excessive condensation and will damage the heat exchanger.

I did a scan for cold, freeze and climate.
I found a couple of references I did see a condensation reference bit more to do with long runs of venting. Mine is direct vent so no additional pipe installed.

Based on what I’ve seen I think I can run it. These is this statement that makes me feel a little better.

• Short term operation of heater when temps are below 40F can continue but continuous flow must be maintained.

I expect that once the freeze protect kicks in that the pool pump will be running for a couple days during this freeze.

Here are all the references I was able rot find that seem relative.

NOTE: If the heater is to be operated in below freezing conditions it should be installed in a protected outdoor

In locations with freezing climate, extension of the vent pipe outside of the building should be minimized.

• It is recommended that vent runs over 18 feet
be insulated to reduce condensation and use a condensate trap in the vent run close to the heater, especially in cold climate installations.


WARNING
Do not operate the heater if the water temperature is below 40 °F (4°C)
• Short term operation of heater when temps are below 40F can continue but continuous flow must be maintained.
• Prolonged operation with water below 50F can seriously damage the heater and is not covered by warranty
