Hey all- noticed this tan/brown staining that is also very rough to the touch (and catches swim suits). Looks like it formed where the waterline was during winter. Any idea what caused this? Maybe calcium build up? Any ideas on how to remove it? See pics.

Probably calcium scale. Best way is to scrub it off using diamond sanding pads.

Consider adding borates to your water. The Borate Pool Opening in Aqua Magazine discusses how borates can limit pH rise while a pool is closed for the winter. High pH while a pool is closed can cause scaling. For those that find their pools with very high pH at Spring opening borates may benefit with the pool open or closed.

Ended up using these pads you recommended and they worked great! Thanks for the help!
